Design and Implementation
of a Highly-Integrated Low-Power CMOS Frequency Synthesizer for an Indoor
Wireless Wideband_CDMA Direct Conversion Receiver
Chinh H. Doan M.S. 2000
(advisor: Robert Brodersen).
The recent expansion in
wireless communications market has spawned many new and challenging problems.
Portable devices intended for consumer use impose the need for affordability,
low power consumption, and small form factor. Furthermore, the bandwidth
requirement for individual users has increased substaintially, driven by the
desire for ubiquitous access to digital multimedia applications and the
content-rich internet. With the continual progress in complementary metal-oxide
semiconductor (CMOS) scaling providing exponential improvements in transistor
performance and speed, a highly-integrated radio-frequency (RF) CMOS solution is
not only feasible, but also practical.
