Design of Chaos-Based
Multi-Shift Cypher
Communication Systems
Wm. Rhett Davis, 1997 M.S. (advisor:
Robert Brodersen)
A prototype communication system is
presented which uses a multi-shift cypher encryption scheme coupled with a
chaotic modulation scheme. Transmissions of this type are much more difficult
to intercept by eavesdroppers than traditional chaos-based communication
systems. The system works for a small range of input frequencies and in very
noisy due to non-idealities in the system. Detailed design methodology and data
are provided.
